It is difficult for a loving owner to deny his pet a piece of sausage from his table. But love is not only the desire to pamper your pet, but also the need to limit it.
Responsible parents do not allow their child to eat chips and sweets.
Harmful treats also do not lead to anything good in relation to dogs, but owners continue to feed their pets from the table. But this is dangerous for the animal.
Why human food is dangerous for physical health
If you look at it objectively, human food often causes health problems even to the person himself. It's just that the consequences become noticeable later. A dog's lifespan is much shorter than a human's, so you'll have to go to the vet sooner than go to the hospital yourself.
Animals' bodies are not adapted to fried, spicy, salty, sweet, and fatty foods. Such food causes problems with the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, liver, and heart. You can often find overweight dogs because they are fed with flour and fatty foods and are not given any exercise.
When a dog is fed from the table, it may eventually refuse its food. A caring owner worries that the pet will remain hungry, and gives it even more human food. It is clear that after this the dog will not eat its food.
Another problem is that the dog begins to secrete gastric juice irregularly to digest food. In a normal situation, this process occurs strictly according to schedule - during the dog's feeding hours. That is why animals are fed at the same time.
Why table food is dangerous in terms of education
Many people think that if you don't treat your dog, it will be offended. It's so hard to resist the hungry eyes of your pet! But the problem is that you yourself teach your dog to beg for food. A puppy up to a year actively searches for food, as this is inherent in nature. It must eat a lot to grow. Therefore, it begs for food at the table. And gets it.
The same scheme works here as in training. Reinforcement of a certain behavior with a treat. If a dog looks pitifully and gets a treat, it will do so constantly. Dogs that have never been fed from the table do not look with hungry eyes, do not bark, they do not have increased salivation during the owners' dinner.
But besides getting food, the dog makes one very important conclusion: I can control the owner. And it transfers this conclusion to all spheres of life.
Sometimes this develops into a big problem, especially if it is a service dog that will not obey the person it can control. Such a dog will not listen to its owner, can go a long distance on its own, it is impossible to call it away from another individual or in case of danger.
