Whenever you ask someone for something, do you always say the phrase, “Could you please…”?

Don't do that again!

This is a very bad habit that leads to constant rejections.

What's wrong with the phrase "Could you please..."

Many people who hear this remark subconsciously perceive it not as a request (which the phrase actually is), but as a question (which the remark is purely formal).

The person immediately becomes confident that he can easily refuse.

Your interlocutor will reason something like this: "I was asked if I could do this. I can safely answer that I can't."

What to replace the phrase "Could you please..."

Don't want people to reject you often?

Then use one interesting psychological trick. Replace the question with a sentence that contains an imperative verb.

But don't forget to be polite.

In other words, instead of saying, "Could you help me carry my bags?" it's better to say, "Please help me carry my bags."

In this case, it will be much more difficult for your interlocutor to refuse.
