There is an opinion that love in a couple lives for a limited number of years, but some people still stay together for many years.

This led scientists to the idea that romantic relationships develop at different rates in each individual case.

Scientists from the University of Mainz (Germany) have found out when exactly the limit of a romantic relationship is reached.

The results of the work were published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

What does romance depend on?

According to experts, the duration of romantic feelings determines the degree of satisfaction with the relationship for each partner.

The indicator, in turn, depends on communication skills, intimate relationships, as well as personality type and character traits.

What was found out?

The calculation was made after analyzing the attitudes of more than 2,000 volunteers from Southern California.

The researchers assessed the duration of romantic relationships, as well as how quickly the decision to break up was made.

It turned out that people who thought about breaking up or getting divorced early complained of low levels of satisfaction with their relationship with their partner early on.

It also turned out that couples broke up if the level of relationship satisfaction did not exceed 65% of the maximum value.

It was believed that in such a situation it was easier for a person to break up than to continue working on the well-being of the union.

Equally surprising was the finding that couples with children were less satisfied with their relationships.

And young partners lost relationship satisfaction faster than adults.
