A twitching eye can make you laugh, thanks to popular cartoon characters.
In real life, this is not funny - it happens to everyone who is often under stress or works a lot.
And if a person can somehow suppress attacks of hiccups, then nothing has yet been invented against a twitching eye or other part of the face.
Why does the eye twitch?
Most often, the lower eyelid twitches, a little less often the upper one. But in general, the tic can affect any facial muscle.
From a medical point of view, there is nothing dangerous about this phenomenon, and twitching itself is not even considered a disease.
In addition to nervous strain, the eye may begin to twitch due to irritation and intense work (for example, at the computer).
Also worth noting are poor sleep, high physical activity and stress.
Another reason is taking medications (read the side effects carefully), drinking alcohol, smoking, or drinking caffeinated beverages in excess.
What to do
The only way to solve this problem is to calm down and press when the tick passes on its own.
Unfortunately, there are no folk or other methods to combat this problem.
But if the eye is red, swollen, there is discharge, the upper eyelid droops, or the eye closes completely when twitching, then it is better to consult a doctor.
