In short, a SUP board is a board for swimming with a paddle.
If you are new to SUP paddling, choosing your first board can be quite difficult – until you read the tips in this article.
Tips for choosing your first SUP board
It is recommended to start with an inflatable board rather than a rigid one.
Pay attention to short and wide boards with a small thickness, raised nose and rounded edges - they are more stable.
The optimal board length for a person of average build is between 2.7 and 3.3 meters. Larger people require a larger SUP.
Try to find a model without protruding elements on the deck. When climbing onto the board from the water, they will most likely cause abrasions on the stomach and sides. An exception can be made for 4-6 eyelets for securing cargo in the bow.
But a leash that can be attached to your hand is a definite plus.
And about the "classics": do not choose the cheapest model. It is recommended to deviate from the minimum price by about 15-20% to avoid buying a low-quality product.
You should also avoid brands with aggressive advertising and artificially inflated reviews.
