Just being in the forest can calm a person and make him happier.
If we talk about the Japanese method of shinrin-yoku, or “forest baths”, it allows you to completely immerse yourself in the world of nature and get maximum benefit.
Shinrin means "forest" in Japanese, while yoku means "bath" in Japanese.
This concept implies bathing in the atmosphere of the forest or perceiving it with our senses.
Forest bathing has nothing to do with physical exercise. It is a mistake to think of such a pastime as walking or jogging. Forest bathing is rather simply being in nature, connecting with it and perceiving it with all our senses – sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.
How to "forest bathe" correctly
First, find a suitable place. Don't take your phone or other devices with you - be prepared to walk slowly and aimlessly.
Your body is your guide: listen to where it wants to take you and follow it, enjoying the sounds, smells and sights.
Let nature enter through your ears, eyes, nose, mouth, hands and feet: listen to the birds singing and the rustling of leaves, look at the sky through the treetops, inhale the scents of the forest, touch the trees or lie down on the ground to feel joy and peace.
