There is an opinion that reading is more useful than listening. But part of the population does not see any difference between reading books and listening to them.

To understand this issue, we need to find out how the brain reacts to both processes. Here's what scientists say about reading and listening.

This issue was studied by researchers from the University of California, Berkeley in 2019.

They were looking for an answer in terms of better information retention.

It turned out that the difference was not so significant, since listening and reading are equally associated with difficulties in concentration.

What's better?

Listening forces you to engage your comprehension skills in real time.

Scientists associate reading with visual load and say that the brain perceives images and videos more easily than text.

How to do it faster?

Trying to figure out how information is absorbed faster, scientists came to the conclusion that everything depends on the individual qualities of a person.

However, preference was still given to reading – simple arithmetic.

The average adult can read up to 300 words per minute.

During a conversation, in order to convey information clearly, a person speaks no more than 160 words per minute.

But reading can definitely be called effective when learning foreign languages, scientists are sure.

Previously, we talked about what things you don’t need to apologize for.
