1. Slip
Actually, the correct word would be "slip". There is no "d" in this word.
2. To authorize or to legitimize
There is a word "authorize" or "legalize". But anyone can express disagreement with the official position, which happens quite often.

This word comes from the verb "to evaluate". You will have to search for "to evaluate" in the dictionary for a long time and without result.
4. Pain reliever
There is a word "painkiller", "to anesthetize". The situation is similar to "to legitimize" or "to empower".
