Scientists believe that the motives that push women to cheat are different from those that motivate men to cheat on women.
For this purpose, research was conducted, during which more than one hundred men and women from 19 countries were interviewed.
Why women decide to cheat was investigated by employees of Oxford and Melbourne universities. The results were published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior.
As a result, we managed to name 10 reasons that push women to infidelity.
Unhappy relationship
64.66% of women admitted that unhappy relationships push women to cheat twice as often as it does for men.
Detachment
22.41% of women admitted that the reason for infidelity is the partner’s coldness and unwillingness to work on the relationship.
Revenge
15.52% of women admitted that revenge pushes them to cheat. At the same time, revenge was used as a motive by the women surveyed 5 times more often than by men.
Boredom
12.93% expected something new, diverse, special impressions and emotions from a new relationship.
Dissatisfaction
8.62% admitted that they were simply forced to do this because they needed regular intimacy.
Force majeure
7.76% cheated because it happened that way. That is, as a result of flirting, without thinking about the consequences, and so on.
Self-affirmation
6.9% of the women surveyed tried to increase their self-esteem in this way.
Love
6.89% experienced the most sincere feelings for their new chosen one (2% of those surveyed in this group) or harbored a real passion (5% of the respondents who cheated).
Parting
6.03% of women surveyed, foreseeing an inevitable separation from their partner, consciously decided to cheat, wanting to dull the pain of separation or quickly put an end to it.
Distance
3.45% of women said that long-distance relationships pushed them down the path of sin.
