Just imagine: you come on a date, and your interlocutor spends the whole evening engrossed in looking at the screen of his smartphone.
You try to start a conversation, but he seems completely absorbed in his device, only occasionally humming in response to your questions while keeping his eyes on his phone.
It's obvious that he doesn't care at all that you're here and he has no interest in interacting with you.
Eventually, you give in and grab your own smartphone to keep yourself occupied. This is hardly a 10/10 date.
What to do
Perhaps your partner has urgent work-related issues or needs to resolve some issues with family or friends.
If the reason is really serious, suggest rescheduling the date for another time.
If he convinces you that nothing serious has happened, but continues to look at his smartphone, most likely he is simply not interested in you or has become dependent on the mobile gadget.
Unfortunately, in such a case, it is difficult to imagine a favorable development of your relationship, so it is better to end it before things go too far.
