Officers of the regional GUBOPiK department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with fighters from the special forces unit "Storm", stopped a car driven by a 46-year-old resident of Brest, introduced themselves, and showed their service IDs.
The driver did not respond to demands to get out of the car and locked himself in the vehicle.
He then tried to escape. In doing so, the man ran over one of the law enforcement officers.
The arrest took place in the private sector; the suspect’s actions posed a real threat to those around him.
In order to stop the car, the servicemen fired targeted shots.
The suspect received minor injuries and received medical assistance.
Flashbang grenades and a container containing a substance similar to gunpowder were found at the detainee’s place of residence.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the detainee for violence or threat of violence against an internal affairs officer.
