Law enforcement officers found out that in November of this year, a Russian citizen arrived in Moscow from Ukraine under the guise of a deported person in transit through Moldova and Georgia.

He was recruited by Ukrainian special services – he was supposed to commit a terrorist act. By the way, he has been living in Ukraine permanently for the last four years.

Once in the capital, he took out a homemade explosive device and a video surveillance system from a hiding place.

An IED, disguised as a power bank, with magnets attached, was to be installed under the official car of one of the high-ranking employees of the Ministry of Defense, the driver of which was his close relative.

According to the FSB, the Ukrainian special services intended to blow up the car remotely, from their own country.

In addition to the curators from the Ukrainian special services, the coordination of the preparation of the terrorist attack was also carried out through the recruited wife of the arriving agent.

It was established that she lived in the city of Mirgorod in the Poltava region of Ukraine.

After committing the crime, the Russian was planned to be taken to Ukraine, and from there to one of the EU countries.

Muscovite and two others

The FSB identified a Muscovite who was also recruited by Kyiv.

On assignment from Ukraine, he conducted reconnaissance of the places of residence and work of high-ranking military personnel of the Russian Ministry of Defense and their family members.

This citizen sent the obtained data in the form of photos and videos to his curators for further preparation of atrocities.

As for the remaining two of the four detainees, they were supposed to commit a terrorist attack against one of the Russian military personnel.

In particular, they were preparing to deliver to him a homemade explosive device disguised as a folder with documents.

It was taken from a hiding place in the Moscow region using coordinates provided by a native of Krasnodon (Luhansk region), who works for the Ukrainian special services and now lives in Poland.

The detainees had IEDs and communication equipment confiscated that were used in criminal activities.

The defendants face life imprisonment for the crimes they committed, the department concluded.
