Recently it became known that three illegal diggers were detained in Belarus.

Their illegal activities were stopped by officers of the 5th Directorate (in Minsk) of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reported this on its official Telegram channel.

According to the department, the detained citizens are involved in the illegal trafficking of explosives and weapons.

Law enforcement officers have established that residents of the capital, Minsk and Gomel regions (aged 37 to 75) were engaged in excavations at sites of military operations during the Great Patriotic War from 2010 to 2024.

They operated in the territories of Minsk and Gomel regions.

The firearms that were found were “brought into combat-ready condition,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.

And they added: if they came across shells and ammunition, then citizens extracted explosives from them.

In their homes, as well as in hiding places organized in the forests of the Svetlogorsk region, the following were found and confiscated:

– 4 units of rifled weapons;
– 3 units of smoothbore weapons;
– components for this weapon;
– about 3,500 rounds;
– explosives, shells of various calibers, grenades and mines.

Criminal cases have been opened for illegal actions related to firearms, ammunition and explosives.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the detainees were sorting through their finds not only at their place of residence, but also in garages and summer cottages, which put the lives of people around them at risk.

Law enforcement officials remind: for the voluntary surrender of weapons and ammunition, a citizen is exempt from criminal liability.
