4,000 injured, 11 dead as Hezbollah pagers explode in Lebanon

Hospitals in several Lebanese cities, including the capital Beirut, are overwhelmed.

Victims of the explosions of pagers belonging to Hezbollah members were brought there en masse.

According to a statement by the country's acting Minister of Health, Firas Abyad, people were injured as a result of large-scale sabotage by Israel.

Al Jazeera also reported that Israel was involved in the detonation of portable communication devices used by Hezbollah members, citing a source in the Lebanese security service.

It is stated that the Israeli military was able to hack into the organization's fighters' security and alert systems.

According to Firas Abyad, 11 people were killed and about 4 thousand were injured as a result of the incident.

Hezbollah admitted that 8 fighters were killed as a result of the pager explosion.

According to media reports, three more people were killed: two supporters of the Shiite movement and one girl.

Mobilization of medical personnel

The country's Ministry of Health has declared all medical institutions on high alert due to the large number of injured.

Due to what happened (explosions occurred in several cities), hundreds of doctors were mobilized and 50 ambulances were deployed.

It is known that the victims were taken to more than 100 medical institutions in the republic. About 400 people are currently in serious condition.

The Lebanese government and Hezbollah have blamed Israel for the incident. An investigation is underway into the incident.

The UN expressed concern over the incident, condemning the deaths of civilians.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry called the pager explosions in Lebanon a terrorist attack and mass murder.
