Salt in the garden is taboo, any agronomist will tell you.

But experienced gardeners have long been breaking this rule, achieving incredible results.

It's all about dosage and correct use.

A handful of salt added to a compost heap speeds up the decomposition of organic matter. Sodium activates the work of microorganisms that turn waste into fertilizer in a matter of months.

But this is not the only life hack using white salt crystals.

If your tomatoes or peppers are suffering from blossom-end rot, spray them with a weak salt solution (100 g per 10 l of water). This will replenish the calcium deficiency and stop the spread of the disease.

The main thing is not to overdo it: excess salt salinizes the soil, making it unsuitable for plants. Use the method only in critical situations and no more than once a season.

Another way to use it is to combat onion flies. Sprinkle a thin layer of salt on the bed before it rains, and the pest will disappear.

And if you mix salt with mustard powder and sprinkle it between the rows of cabbage, you will protect it from slugs.

But remember: after any manipulation with salt, water the soil generously so that the crystals dissolve and do not harm the roots.

This method seems risky, but it has been tested by generations of gardeners.

Try it and see that salt can be a friend, not an enemy.
