The first seedlings are sent to the dacha after the soil in the greenhouse has warmed up. It is worth thinking now about what qualities these varieties or hybrids should have.
It is known that there is not much space in a greenhouse, but the harvest in a limited area should be maximum.
Here's what experienced gardeners advise in such cases.
The most important
Choose determinate or low-growing crops, that is, plants that do not require much space in either height or width.
These grow no more than a meter in height, do not take up much space in width, and have a compact root system.
The remaining conditions - the ripening period or the yield - depend on the interests of the gardener. However, it makes sense to take a closer look at these representatives of determinants.
Explosion (F1)
It grows up to 60 cm in height, but has spreading branches.
The yield is on average up to 3 kg of tomatoes per bush. The tomatoes are dense, fleshy, suitable for winter harvesting, and tolerate transportation well.
The harvest ripens in 105-110 days from the day of sowing, the seedlings grow unpretentiously.
Alpha
The plant is about 50 cm high with a short stem and many branches.
The fruits grow to be medium-sized, weighing 55 grams, but they do not store well and almost do not tolerate transportation.
Good for making salads, juices and sauces.
They ripen 90-95 days after sowing and produce a rich harvest.
Valentina
Bushes up to 70 cm high, fruits weighing up to 90 g, with dense skin and fleshy pulp.
Very tasty when fresh, suitable for canning, puree and juice.
They ripen 100-105 days after sowing and are resistant to high temperatures.
And these tomatoes do not require pinching.
For reference
Tomato is an annual or perennial herbaceous plant, a species of the genus Solanum of the Solanaceae family. It is grown as a vegetable crop.
