December 31 is the last day of the year for most people. For summer residents, it is still the last quiet day.

It is no secret that many garden or ornamental crops begin to be sown as early as January.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist, agronomist and landscape designer, told us what to sow for seedlings in January.

In January, experienced gardeners sow seedlings of plants that are characterized by slow germination and the same growth rates.

Planting usually begins in the second half of the month.

But before you start working, think about the weather, climate and timing of transplanting your seedlings into the ground or greenhouse.

Don't forget to look at the gardener's calendar and remember that seedlings should not be left in pots.

Seedlings in the garden

1. From vegetable crops you can sow late leeks.

2. Hot pepper lovers may also want to consider this time to sow seeds.

It takes up to two weeks for this crop to sprout.

3. Those who want to renew their berry patch can sow strawberries.

In this case, there is no need to delay and you can start preparing immediately after the holidays.

Florists have no less trouble. Flower seedlings may need up to several months before they can be transplanted into the ground.

Therefore, in January, eustoma and verbena, snapdragons, and many perennials are sown.

Other crops, if sown in January, may overgrow and not have enough nutrition in the container.
