Did you plant hydrangea in your country house this fall?
This is very good! The next summer cottage season will most likely be associated with the beautiful flowering of the plant.
In addition, autumn planting significantly reduces the risk that the flora will be “attacked” by pests.
But there are still some downsides. So, if you planted hydrangea in the fall, the plant needs proper shelter.
Ignoring the recommendation is fraught with the death of the flora representative almost immediately after the onset of the frost period, emphasizes the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.
What to do with hydrangea in November
In the first half of the final autumn month, the plant needs the following procedure: filling the center of all bushes with dry sphagnum to a height of 0.3 m.
You can use some other mulching material: for example, sawdust, straw or crushed tree bark.
It is desirable that the selected mass also appears on the tree trunk circles.
The final stage is tying the hydrangea with twine and spruce branches. The latter can be replaced with a non-woven fabric such as spunbond.
At the beginning of the next summer cottage season, the winter mulch will need to be replaced with fresh mulch. Otherwise, the plant will suffer great harm.
