Don't know what container to choose for seedlings? Then this article is for you.
We talk about the advantages and disadvantages of different containers for seedlings.
What container for seedlings to choose
If there are a lot of seedlings, it is best to use wooden boxes.
Disadvantages: difficult to move, over time they begin to rot, roots can be easily damaged when transplanting.
Secondly, you can use plastic food containers.
They are much lighter than wooden boxes and have a lid. Under the lid, seedlings sprout faster.
Thirdly, seedlings can be grown in plastic cups.
The main advantage is low cost, the main disadvantage is difficulties during transportation.
Fourthly, cardboard/peat cups. Made from environmentally friendly materials, decompose in the soil, seedlings take root well in them.
However, if over-watered, they can become moldy, and they are not cheap.
Peat tablets are also not a cheap pleasure.
As for plastic cassettes, they are easy to use and inexpensive, but you can’t plant peppers and eggplants in them – there won’t be enough space for the roots.
