At the end of the season, every gardener has a question about what to do with the leaves.
If the litter is healthy, it can be used to maximum benefit the site.
What options can be considered?
Mulch and insulation
During the winter cold, many perennial crops require protection of the root system from the cold. Healthy leaf litter will cope with this task perfectly.
It can also be safely used as a mulching layer: in this case, there will be significantly fewer weeds in the spring.
Compost
There are no obstacles to using fallen leaves as one of the components of compost. In order for the leaves to decompose faster, they should be pre-chopped with a shovel.
Fertilizer
Often, crushed leaf litter is simply used to fertilize the soil: this is a high-quality and free fertilizer. You can also consider using the leaves to create warm beds if necessary.
