Not everything we consider waste is actually waste.

Take onion peels, for example – they often end up in the trash, even though they could help you increase the yield of the crops growing in your garden.

In a decoction of onion peels you can find almost the entire periodic table, and it is also capable of killing pathogenic microflora in the soil, stimulating plant growth and increasing their resistance to diseases and pests.

Onion peel for cucumbers

If you notice that the leaves of your cucumbers have started to turn yellow, don’t be too upset.

Take two handfuls of onion peel, place them in a 10-liter enamel bowl, pour in water and boil for 5 minutes. After that, let the decoction steep, strain, dilute with water (2 liters of decoction per bucket of water) and spray the cucumber leaves. The remaining peel can be used as mulch.

Onion peel will also help if cucumbers are attacked by spider mites.

This time you will have to prepare an infusion of 200 g of husk and 10 l of water. After the product has stood for 4-5 days, it needs to be filtered and sprayed on the plantings. The procedure is carried out a maximum of 3 times with an interval of 5 days.

Onion against aphids

To combat aphids on vegetables, you can use the following recipe: fill half a bucket with onion peel, pour hot water over it and leave for a day.

Dilute the strained solution 2 times with water and use to treat plants. By the way, it will also help in the fight against the Colorado potato beetle, which has taken a fancy to potatoes and eggplants.

Protection of fruit trees

And if you need to protect apple trees from codling moth, spray the trees with any of the above-mentioned infusions after flowering, on a warm evening (not below 15 degrees) after sunset.

This treatment should be repeated every 7 days for a month.
