Marigolds are able to delight the owners of country plots where they grow, from summer until late autumn.

But these flowers perform not only a decorative function.

Their amazing qualities improve the condition of the soil and protect plants from nematodes, gray mold and various types of spotting.

The simplest thing you can do with these bright flowers is to fill the holes with them when planting winter garlic.

The plucked flowers can also be dug under the bushes of garden strawberries, which are more often than others affected by nematodes, spider mites and gray mold.

Finally, mature whole marigold plants can be used as mulch in beds that need it, as well as under roses.

And if you want to protect tomatoes from late blight with the help of marigolds, then plant these flowers near the tomato bushes - they will drive away the disease, and along with it, some pests.

Even if marigold seeds spill out into the soil and self-seed next year, it’s okay – just dig them up in the spring and plant them where they’re needed most.
