One way to increase potato yield is to pre-treat sprouted tubers.
They need to be “bathed” in a nutrient solution.
The corresponding procedure must be carried out two days before planting potatoes.
The result will pleasantly surprise the summer resident: shoots will quickly appear and tubers will quickly begin to form. And after a few months, the owner of the suburban area will be pleased with the rich harvest of garden crops.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told about an interesting summer cottage trick.
What and when to water sprouted tubers
Exactly 48 hours before the planned planting of tubers, water them with a liquid that is prepared as follows: take a bucket, fill it almost completely with water and add certain components. We are talking about such additives:
- superphosphate (40 grams);
- potassium salt (40 grams);
- fertilizers containing nitrogen (40 grams).
For every 5 kilos of tubers there should be 10 liters of the resulting solution.
The procedure will have a positive effect on the rate of emergence of seedlings.
The potato yield will be at least 10 percent higher than the standard.
What to do with unsprouted tubers?
If you haven't sprouted tubers, there's nothing wrong with that.
The procedure can still be (and should be!) performed. Just a day earlier.
"Buy" the tubers in the solution not 48, but 24 hours before planting. And you will achieve the same result: accelerated emergence of shoots, early start of tuber formation, high yield.
