Amaranth is a name of a plant that is familiar to experienced gardeners.

The flower does not create problems, and having planted it once, you can be sure that you will not have to buy seeds for sowing again.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist, agronomist and landscape designer, told how to plant and care for amaranth.

Choosing a place

1. Sow seeds in well-drained and fertile soil, slightly acidic or neutral.

2. Choose a place well lit by the sun. The plant is not afraid of it at all and should be in the light for at least 6-8 hours a day.

3. The crop is unpretentious in terms of fertilizers and top dressing. But you should not refuse to apply complex fertilizers that stimulate growth.

When to sow

You won't have to grow seedlings. Seeds can be planted in open ground as soon as the threat of frost has passed and the soil in the flowerbed has warmed up.

The plant likes moderate watering. Until the amaranth takes root, it is recommended to water it constantly.

The adult plant tolerates drought well.

It will also be necessary to thin out the grown seedlings so that they develop and grow evenly.

After flowering has finished, wait until the seed heads on the stems are dry and collect the seeds for planting next year.
