Winter is a difficult period for indoor plants, including orchids.
If you want to help your "green pets" replenish their energy reserves for growth and flowering, try to water them according to all the rules. Mistakes in this process are fraught with slow development, loss of buds and even diseases of the root system.
In addition, follow the advice of experienced gardeners who recommend using a special nutrient solution in winter to stimulate the growth of orchid buds.
How to prepare a solution
Dissolve 1 teaspoon of sugar in a liter of warm, settled water at a temperature of about 30 degrees – this is a source of energy for plants.
The composition should be enriched with liquid complex fertilizer for orchids - two drops are enough. This component will saturate the solution with microelements that are necessary for flowering.
The final stage is mixing.
How to water orchids
Proper watering of an orchid is a multi-stage process consisting of three steps.
Soak
Place the pot with the plant in a deep container with water so that the lower part of the roots is immersed in water. In this position, leave the orchid for 15-20 minutes.
Removing excess moisture
After soaking, allow the water to drain so that the roots are not kept wet for a long time. This will help prevent rotting.
Frequency of watering
In December, it is recommended to carry out such watering once every 10-14 days, taking into account the air humidity and the state of the root system.
