Summer residents who water berry bushes with boiling water in the spring have several good goals.
It is believed that in this way you can get rid of pests that spent the winter on the bushes, as well as protect plants from various infectious diseases.
At the same time, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, this procedure cannot be called a panacea in the fight against pests, and its implementation requires special skills from the gardener.
Firstly, the use of boiling water is allowed during the period when the buds have not yet blossomed.
Secondly, the water temperature should not be lower than 80 degrees.
Thirdly, the bushes must be prepared in advance - tied with twine to make it easier to reach the branches, and to distribute the water throughout the bush.
Well, and of course, it is worth sticking to a certain technique, and this is already the fourth nuance. Agree, there are quite a few of them.
In addition, the procedure has several serious disadvantages.
So, maintaining the required temperature is not easy, to put it mildly, especially if the garden is located some distance from the house – you are unlikely to be able to deliver boiling water here, and there is no point in using warm water.
In addition, the procedure will require a considerable amount of water - for some this may be a problem.
There is always a risk of harming the bushes: they may get burnt, and the underground part may start to rot due to stagnant water.
Lastly, this pest control method has no scientific backing, so you will still have to use professional products.
