Many gardeners do not stop their favorite activities with the soil even in winter.

Especially those who have “registered” plants in their houses or apartments – on windowsills.

But, alas, trouble often comes that threatens not only green pets, but also the person himself.

Its name is mold. It appears in pots, or rather, in the soil that is there.

How to get rid of the scourge? The expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh suggested.

According to her, one of the main reasons for the appearance of mold in pots is high humidity (due to frequent watering) and low temperature.

First of all, the threat extends to plants in heavy, dense soil, in plastic containers, and also in pots without drainage holes.

In addition, mold poses a particular danger to young representatives of the flora.

To save the garden, the first thing you need to do is change the frequency of watering.

If the plants are located on a cool windowsill, find a warmer location for them.

The top layer of soil - the affected one - should be replaced with fresh one.

Don't forget: plant garden plants only in containers that have drainage holes.

It is necessary to carefully prepare the substrate - it should be light and loose.

It is advisable to disinfect the soil using boiling water or by heating it in the oven.

Some biological preparations can also help improve the soil.
