The vines of Virginia creeper, commonly known as maiden grapes, can become a real decoration of the site.

The secrets of correct planting were shared by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.

How to Plant Maiden Grapes Correctly

You can start planting seedlings both in spring and autumn.

The first thing to do, of course, is to dig planting holes - a depth of half a meter will be enough.

Next, drainage is sent into the hole. This can be sand, crushed stone, broken brick, etc.

The plant is not particularly demanding in relation to the soil, but it is advisable to add humus or compost to the holes.

Once the hole has a layer of fertile soil, plant the seedling at the same depth at which it grew before.

All that remains is to compact the soil and water it thoroughly.

Immediately after planting the plant, install a small support and firmly tie the shoots to it.

As the vine grows, gently guide it in the direction you want it to go, such as toward an arbor, pergola, or post.

If you plant the plants next to a wall, they do not require support, as the shoots will be able to secure themselves with the help of suction cups at the ends of the tendrils.
