Why you should prepare garden pitch yourself
There is a wide range of ready-made products available in stores that can be used to repair damage to trees.
The problem is that they often contain paraffin, mineral oils, adhesives, varnishes, petroleum products, etc.
Not all of them are safe: some can harm plants, for example, burn them or cause allergies in the gardener himself.
That's why it's worth learning how to make garden pitch at home.
How to make garden varnish with your own hands
Important: Before you start "production", you should put on a mask and gloves, and only then you can begin to follow these steps.
Grind 550 g of wax and melt it in a water bath.
Once this step is complete, pour 550g of turpentine into the container and then add 300g of crushed rosin.
Continue heating the future garden varnish and stir it until all ingredients are completely dissolved.
After this, add 100 g of rendered animal fat and mix all the ingredients to obtain a homogeneous mass.
Pour the still hot mixture in a thin stream into another container filled with cold water.
When the mixture hardens, take it out, knead it with your hands and form sausages or balls – it is convenient to store garden pitch in this form. By the way, you can use film, oiled paper or bags for storage.
