Summer residents who have a basement or cellar can easily store the harvest of any crops for a long period of time.
Tomatoes are no exception.
But it is difficult to keep vegetables fresh within the apartment. Even a refrigerator cannot provide a long storage period. However, with the help of a couple of methods, this problem will be solved.
How can you store tomatoes in an apartment?
Mustard with paper
This method will be useful even if you are trying to save the harvest of the ripest tomatoes. First, the vegetables are thoroughly washed, the stalk is removed and dried.
Then take a glass container for storage (jars, for example), put a layer of dry mustard and paper. Put a layer of tomatoes, again add mustard powder and paper. Tomatoes will stay fresh for several months.
Newspapers
It is advisable to use this method for storing green tomatoes: they will have time to ripen and will not spoil. You need to take a container (a wooden box, for example) and cover it with a layer of newspaper. Lay out the tomatoes. The stalk "looks" upward. Cover with paper.
After that, we simply alternate layers.
