Any gardener who takes up growing carrots, of course, wants to end up harvesting more large and juicy root vegetables.
The gardener must understand that obtaining such an abundant and high-quality harvest is impossible without proper fertilizing.
Applying the right fertilizer will greatly increase your chances of achieving the desired result.
There is one mandatory remedy that must be applied at the beginning of summer.
This point was noted by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.
Fertilizer for large and juicy carrots
During the first month of summer, the garden crop will need to be fed with a mixture consisting of three components:
- ammonium nitrate;
- superphosphate;
- potassium salt.
For a bucket of water there should be 25 grams of the first component and 30 grams each of the second and third.
How to feed carrots in July and August
In mid-summer, the plant will benefit from a fertilizer consisting of potassium sulfate and double superphosphate (30 grams per bucket of water).
During this same period, it is advisable to carry out foliar feeding of carrots with boron (one packet of boric acid per 10 liters of liquid).
And in the final third of summer, the garden crop will need not only potassium and phosphorus, but also a nitrogen component.
At this time, carrots will “respond” well to a fertilizer consisting of potassium nitrate (20 grams), double superphosphate and urea (15 grams per bucket of water).
