The first cultivated plant in the garden, which summer residents will soon be feeding, is winter garlic.

It is important not to miss the time for the first feeding, and also to choose the right fertilizers.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist agronomist and landscape designer, told how and when to feed winter garlic in the spring.

First feeding

This is a very important point. Fertilizers are applied in the spring after the first shoots appear.

It is impossible to give a more precise time frame, so when the plant sprouts, then gardeners apply fertilizers.

What to feed

1. For the first time, it is most often recommended to use urea or carbamide.

To prepare the solution, take 20 g of fertilizer (1 tbsp.) per 10 liters of water.

Consumption of this amount of solution per 3 sq. m. of garden bed.

2. It is also common practice to add ammonium nitrate (25 g per 10 l of water), the consumption is the same.

3. People often use ammonia as an alternative to mineral fertilizers.

To prepare the solution you will need 1 tbsp per liter of water (or 10 tbsp per 10 liters of water).

The fertilizer is not stored, but used immediately after preparation.

It would not be a bad idea to add biopreparations to the soil to improve the soil composition, reduce the risk of spreading pathogenic environments and stimulate the growth of garlic.

Second feeding

Two weeks after the first feeding, a new portion of fertilizer is added.

This time we use nitrophoska (40 g per 10 l of water), potassium sulfate and superphosphate, and from folk recipes, wood ash.

If you use potassium sulfate (30 g per 10 l of water), then after a couple of days add superphosphate (40 g per 10 l of water).

Wood ash can be added in dry form (100 g of ash per 1 sq. m.) or prepared as an infusion (300 g per bucket of water).

These types of fertilizers guarantee results, the main thing is to calculate the dosage and add the necessary additives in time.
