Spring is the time when plants, including cherry trees, begin to awaken from their winter sleep.

It is during this period that it is especially important to take care of their proper feeding.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told how to feed cherries in the spring.

Cherry needs both organic and mineral fertilizers.

As organic matter, you can use rotted manure, compost, sawdust, etc., which improve the structure of the soil and make it loose and fertile.

Cherry needs mineral fertilizers that contain potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus, copper, iron, manganese, boron, sulfur, etc. They promote growth, strengthen immunity, and increase tree productivity.

Spring treatment begins with spraying the plantings with 3% Bordeaux mixture before the buds open. To prepare the solution, mix 300 g of copper sulfate and 300 g of quicklime in 10 liters of water.

To satisfy the “appetites” of trees, urea or ammonium nitrate is used before flowering.

For a young tree aged 2 to 4 years, use 30 g of urea per 10 liters of water for spraying or 15 g of ammonium nitrate per 1 square meter of the trunk circle.

For trees older than 4 years, reduce the dose of urea to 20 g per 10 liters of water and increase the amount of ammonium nitrate to 20 g per 1 square meter.

When the cherry trees begin to bloom, it is recommended to do root feeding using ash and mullein. To do this, mix 10 glasses of ash, 5 liters of mullein and 50 liters of water. For trees 4-7 years old, one bucket of solution is enough, for older trees - 2-3 buckets.

And finally: since the cherry needs neutral soil, do not forget to deoxidize the area (if necessary). To do this, sprinkle 300 g of lime or dolomite powder per 1 square meter.
