Unburned wood residues are a good fertilizer.

After all, ash is a source of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron and other components important for plants.

But this does not mean that ash is suitable for absolutely all garden and vegetable crops.

So, starting to feed radishes or watermelons with unburned wood residues is the wrong decision.

In addition, there are many berry crops for which ash poses a huge danger.

Because of ash, such plants can simply stop bearing fruit, emphasizes the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.

Which berry crops cannot be fed with ash

We are talking about the following plants:

  • cowberry;
  • blueberry;
  • blueberry.

All these crops love acidic soil. And ash, as is known, deacidifies the soil cover.

On alkaline soil, lingonberries, blueberries and bilberries grow and develop very poorly.

The introduction of unburned wood residues into the soil may well lead to the cessation of fruiting of the above-mentioned plants.
