Remove the remaining fruits

The final days of winter are an ideal time to check the trees in your garden for the presence/absence of rotten or mummified fruit.

The apple trees have already shed their leaves: everything is clearly visible.

Noticed fruits on these plants? Remove them immediately! Otherwise, the apple trees will face serious diseases.

Fallen fruits also need to be removed.

Perform moisture-charging irrigation

Ensure that the plant has a supply of water for the winter.

Carrying out moisture-charging irrigation is a mandatory action if there was little precipitation in the outgoing autumn.

Protect roots and trunks from frost

Before winter, cover the tree trunks with some mulching material. For example, humus. This will protect the root system from frost.

The trunks must be covered with a whitening mixture and then wrapped in some material to protect against hares and mice.

Carrying out all of the above steps will ensure that your apple trees will not encounter problems in the winter and will produce a good harvest next season.

For reference

Apple tree is a genus of deciduous trees and shrubs of the Rosaceae family with spherical sweet or sweet-sour fruits.
