Experienced summer residents do not rest in winter. They have gardening chores to do at this time of year.

One of the most important is collecting garlic peel.

Why do they do this? Because this material will be of great benefit in the new season.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, spoke about how garlic peel is used in gardens.

According to her, the material is used, among other things, as a fertilizer for plants.

Garlic peel contains a considerable amount of potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen, which stimulate plant growth.

During the decomposition process, the husk enriches the soil, improves its structure and nutritional properties.

It can be effectively used as part of an infusion: the remains of peeled garlic, previously placed in a container, are poured with water (proportion - 1 to 5).

The mixture should be left to infuse for at least two days.

Then you can use the infusion to water your plants: both garden and vegetable plants, as well as indoor plants.

Thanks to this “drink”, the immunity of flora representatives is strengthened.

Garlic peel can also be used as a mulching material.

It helps retain moisture in the soil, prevents weeds from growing and protects plant roots from temperature changes.

In addition, mulching with garlic peel helps improve the soil and, accordingly, ensure a higher and better quality harvest.

The third option for using garlic peel is as a composting component.

Thanks to this husk, decomposition is accelerated, and the compost is enriched with useful microelements.
