When onions are planted for the winter, they are hardened by the cold, become resistant and are not susceptible to diseases. In the spring, when the snow just falls, the vegetable is already sprouting.

But in order to get large bulbs, you need to use seeds that are less than 2 cm in size. If the seeds are larger, they will only delight you with green feathers in the spring.

You need to plant the seeds in the soil, but don’t forget to insulate the bed with some material.

Onion sets are planted depending on weather conditions. It is better to plant them before the first frost. At a daytime temperature of 5, you can already plant them, but not earlier, because they can sprout and be hit by frost.

For autumn planting, choose varieties that are spicy in taste. And for spring planting, it is better to choose sweet varieties of onions. Winter onion varieties: Shakespeare, Sunshine or Radar.

Plant onions so that the distance between them is 6-7 cm, and between rows 15 cm.

There is no need to take care of onions in winter, as they are dormant at this time.

When spring comes, the vegetable is treated in the same way as if it were planted in the spring.
