Getting a good harvest of winter garlic is not that difficult.
We tell you when and how to plant winter garlic and what you shouldn’t do.
How and when to plant winter garlic
The time for planting winter garlic depends on the region. Ideally, you should plant garlic 25 days before the first frost, so that it has time to take root, but does not begin to sprout.
The holes for winter garlic should be deeper than for spring garlic.
Insufficiently deep planting is one of the main reasons for poor winter garlic harvest.
Secondly, you cannot plant garlic in acidic, clayey or sandy soil.
Thirdly, it is not recommended to feed garlic with fresh organic matter when planting.
In addition, it is strictly forbidden to plant garlic in the shade.
