Summer residents forget about this: after this crop, the garden bed also needs to be restored

When talking about diseases of cultivated plants, gardeners most often mention tomatoes and cucumbers. Everyone knows that after them the soil needs to be restored and disinfected if necessary.

It is clear that these are not the only plants that add trouble to summer residents. But I would like to remind you about cabbage.

Bed after cabbage

In the old days, gardeners would cut cabbage, leaving the stalks to rot in the beds.

But now they are increasingly saying that the approach is fundamentally wrong, that the remains of vegetation attract rodents and pests, and also serve as a source of the spread of diseases.

But it is also said that cabbage rhizomes attract earthworms, which bring many benefits.

How to do the right thing

Only healthy vegetation can be left in the garden bed.

All gardeners are familiar with diseases such as clubroot and phomosis.

After them, nothing from the cruciferous family is planted in the former cabbage bed for 6-7 years.

Therefore, if the cabbage is sick, summer residents advise adding dolomite or chalk at a rate of 300-450 grams per square meter.

Then the soil is sown with green manure - oats, lupine or other suitable crops.

These simple tips will help stop the spread of bacteria and fungus.
