You should not postpone the treatment of garden crops from pests and diseases until spring. This is what summer residents do, believing that the pests will die during the winter, but this is not the case.

Experience shows that treatment against pathogens and parasites should be carried out in the fall. Especially when it comes to currants.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist agronomist and landscape designer, told how to treat currants in the fall.

The summer cottage season begins with gardeners pouring hot water over their currant bushes in the hope that this procedure will solve the problem with bud mites.

But in order to collect a rich harvest of currants, you need to take care of the health of the bushes in the fall.

How to process

The situation may be complicated by bad autumn weather.

Lower temperatures make biological preparations ineffective.

To combat diseases and pests, you can use sulfur-based products if the daytime air temperature remains at least +15 degrees Celsius.

For 10 liters of water you need to take 100 grams of the product.

The solution will protect against the main diseases and pests – powdery mildew and spider mites.

If the air temperature has dropped to 3-5 degrees Celsius or the leaves have already fallen, then currants and other fruit bushes and trees are treated with Bordeaux mixture, copper sulfate (1% solution), or chorus is used.
