In most cases, gardeners are involved in compost production in one way or another, although they do not always know what type of fertilizer they have chosen.

As it turns out, the difference lies not only in the chosen methodology.

Production times and useful properties differ significantly.

What are the main differences between the main composting methods?

Aerobic composting

It is worth understanding that we are talking about the production of fertilizer with the direct participation of oxygen. For this, all the components do not need to be tightly stacked and tamped.

The fertilizer needs to be shaken on a regular basis.

It can be used in three months. If you want to get rid of the unpleasant smell, the top layer should consist of soil. Peat is also sometimes used.

Anaerobic method

The method is based on the complete absence of oxygen during the manufacturing process. As a result, we will get the most useful compost, which is in no way inferior to humus.

You just need to lay out the ingredients in a thick layer in the pit, and then block the oxygen supply with a thick film. There will be an unpleasant smell, but such compost is much more useful.

The fertilizer is usually ready within a year.
