In September, strawberries need not only pruning and feeding.

We tell you how to properly care for strawberries in early autumn.

What to do with strawberries in September

First, pruning. A useful measure, but you need to know when to stop.

It is enough to cut off diseased, dried and damaged leaves. Leaving strawberries without leaves at all is unacceptable.

Secondly, feeding. In autumn, strawberries are fed twice: in September and before the first frosts (usually in the second half of October).

For the second autumn feeding, it is strictly forbidden to use nitrogen fertilizers.

Thirdly, treatment against diseases and pests. Before treatment, strawberries need to be weeded.

For fungal diseases it is recommended to use Nitrofen and Topaz, for gray mold - Horus, for pests - Aktara and Actellic.

Fourthly, mulching. Old mulch is removed before treatment against diseases and pests and burned.

A new layer is laid after processing, but not immediately, but at the first frost.

Also in September, strawberries need to continue to be watered. If there is no rain, watering should be done every 7 days.
