One of the most vitamin-rich berries in a summer cottage is currant. But it gives a rich harvest only with proper care.

In order not to be satisfied with crumbs and not wait for mercy from nature, the gardener needs to take care of applying fertilizers in the fall.

Experienced gardeners have shared an interesting trick that can increase the currant harvest in the new season.

When to feed currants

Autumn feeding of currants is carried out in September. It allows the bush to replenish its strength after fruiting, and also to prepare for winter.

What to fertilize with

Everyone knows that at this time fruit crops are fertilized with additives containing phosphorus and potassium.

But experienced gardeners use another remedy - a mixture of lime and diatomite.

The fertilizer helps restore the fertile soil layer, normalizes acidity, and fights diseases and pests.

This fertilizer must be applied when the soil is highly acidic, which causes calcium and potassium to be poorly absorbed.

For normal development and a rich harvest, it is necessary to bring this indicator to 5.5-6.5 pH.

For one currant bush you will need to add one glass of lime and the same amount of diatomite.

Then we mulch the trunk area with humus and water it generously.
