There are enough reasons for tomatoes to start turning black. And it's not just the late blight that scares gardeners.
Even in hot summer such trouble can happen. And then we can safely talk about the lack of nutrients, which means that the problem is solved by feeding.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist, agronomist, landscape designer, told how to save the tomato harvest.
One of the reasons may be a lack of calcium or difficulties with the absorption of this substance due to hot weather.
Blossom end rot develops due to a lack of calcium.
Problems can be avoided by timely fertilizing, proper watering, and covering tomatoes from the sun.
How to save the harvest
The first thing you need to do is get rid of all the spoiled fruit.
Then you need to prepare a fertilizer based on calcium chloride, calcium sulfate or wood ash - your choice.
1. You will need to dissolve 5 ml of calcium chloride in 5 liters of water and treat the plants with the prepared solution.
2. You can dissolve 10 grams of calcium sulfate in 10 liters of water. The solution is also used for foliar feeding in the evening or morning hours.
3. Wood ash fertilizer is prepared by dissolving one glass of fertilizer, slaked with one glass of 9% vinegar, in 10 liters of water.
The mixture is used for watering at the roots.
