One of the vegetables that all summer residents and gardeners try to stock up on for the winter is cabbage.
We won't talk about vitamins and nutrients. Cabbage is simply borscht, shchi, sauerkraut and cabbage rolls, baked goods and other dishes.
It is important that the heads of cabbage grow large and without cracks.
Experienced gardeners told us what they feed their beds with to ensure that the heads are just like this.
Folk fertilizer
Summer residents claim that using baking soda and boric acid, you can grow cabbage up to 8 kg.
Boric acid
It is responsible for saturating the seedlings with all the necessary substances for growth.
To prepare the fertilizer, you need to take 5 grams of boric acid per 1 liter of hot water.
Then bring the total volume to 10 liters and use for feeding.
The fertilizer promotes the development of the root system, the absorption of nutrients, stimulates growth and makes cabbage resistant to pest attacks and diseases.
Baking soda
It is used to normalize soil acidity.
You will need 20 grams of baking soda per 10 liters of water. It is used when forming heads of cabbage.
Among other things, such feeding increases the cabbage’s resistance to damage (cracking) and bad weather, and also allows the harvest to be stored longer.
