No matter how hot the summer is, tasty and sweet watermelons will not grow on their own in your garden if you don’t feed them.
This is not the most difficult process, and you will only need to add supplements three times per season.
First feeding
It is carried out after transplanting seedlings into beds. It is carried out 10-12 days later.
At this stage, you can add a solution of:
- superphosphate - 100 g;
- potassium sulfate - 30 g;
- ammonium nitrate - 10 g.
The ingredients are added per 10 liters. Fertilizer consumption is 2-3 liters per seedling.
Second feeding
It is carried out with the same composition, at the stage when the plant begins to actively form lateral shoots.
This time, the consumption of the solution increases – approximately 4-5 liters for each seedling.
Third feeding
It is carried out during the period of bud formation and ovary development.
At this time, watermelons are fed with ash infusion, which is prepared from 3 tablespoons of wood ash and 1 liter of water.
The fertilizer is infused for 24 hours.
