Vegetables and fruits in your own garden are always tastier and healthier, any summer resident will agree with this opinion.

But as for watermelons, this crop has not yet been conquered by everyone, and often, instead of large and juicy berries, summer residents collect unripe and unformed fruits.

It is important to choose the right variety and sow on time. But even more important is fertilizing.

We will tell you about our favorite folk recipes for preparing fertilizers for watermelons.

Yeast

Enthusiasts have long and actively used yeast in the beds to fertilize berry bushes. Watermelons are no exception in this regard, and yeast fertilizing works wonders, gardeners say.

There is an opinion that yeast only improves the composition of the soil and is not a source of nutrients. In addition, the effectiveness of yeast is maintained only in warm weather.

Ammonia

Ammonia contains nitrogen compounds, which improves the growth of watermelon vines. According to some data, the solution can also be used to increase crop yields.

To prepare the mixture, you need to dissolve 200 ml of ammonia in 1 liter of water, then bring the total volume to 100 liters and use for spraying at intervals of once every 3-4 weeks.

Iodine

It is also not inferior in popularity. It is used as a preventive measure against the development of diseases.

For 10 liters of water you will need 4 drops of iodine. The solution is used for spraying.

It is important to remember that folk recipes do not allow you to replenish the lack of nutrients and therefore do not replace mineral fertilizers.
