One of the most popular questions that worries gardeners is why a fruit tree bloomed as expected, but produced little or no fruit.
If this happens, it means that pollination has not occurred, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer.
"Non-flying" weather
In cool windy weather, the flight of bees, bumblebees, flies and other pollinators is difficult, and it is they who carry pollen on their paws from one flower to another.
Lack or excess of moisture
Don't forget to water your trees regularly and in sufficient quantities. If you see that the tree is collecting more moisture than it needs, take care of drainage.
Pests
The lack of fruit may be due to flower beetles - bugs with a long proboscis. Since trees cannot be treated during flowering, they will have to be dealt with mechanically.
Spread a cloth under the tree and shake the branches, then destroy the collected beetles.
Lack of pollinators
Let us remember that a pollinator is a plant of the same species, but of a different variety. In collective gardens, as a rule, there is no problem with pollinators, but in private gardens it is recommended to graft another variety directly into the crown.
The main thing is that the flowering periods of the selected varieties fall at the same time.
Earlier we talked about how a pear tree can protect other plants.
