How to feed peonies in July: the ideal option - for lush flowering next season

By mid-summer, many varieties of peonies finish flowering.

By this time, many summer residents forget about the plant.

And in vain, because it is at this time (as well as at the end of summer) that buds are formed for flowering in the next season.

A summer resident who leaves peonies without additional nutrition in the second half of the hot season will cause serious harm to this representative of the flora.

And the chances of lush flowering next year will be minimal.

Don't want your peony bed to look unsightly? Never leave your flowers without potassium and phosphorus!

So what exactly should peonies be fed with in July? This question was answered by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

How to feed peonies after flowering

Any complex fertilizer intended for flower beds, containing potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen, will come to the aid of the summer resident.

The main thing is that the emphasis is placed on the first two microelements: there should be much more potassium and phosphorus components than nitrogen.

A summer resident who does not want to apply such fertilizer can use “organic” fertilizer.

The ideal option is wood ash: it contains enough potassium and phosphorus.

The ashes should be scattered around the flowers. In addition, some unburned wood remains should be incorporated into the top layer of soil.

But you need to understand that there is practically no nitrogen in ash. But peonies in the second half of summer need a small amount of this microelement.
