This "minor" mistake can deprive a summer resident of his entire tomato harvest: many people make mistakes

Receiving an extremely meager and low-quality tomato harvest, many gardeners believe that the problem is in unfavorable weather conditions, the wrong variety was chosen, etc.

But sometimes the culprit of failure is the owner of the country house himself.

A summer resident may be left without a tomato harvest if he allows excess nitrogen in the soil. And this happens very often.

How to avoid getting into an unpleasant situation? Recommendations were shared by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Why Excess Nitrogen Is Dangerous for Tomatoes

Yes, tomato bushes need nitrogen. If there is a lack of this microelement, the garden crop will bear fruit poorly.

Knowing this, many gardeners begin to apply too much nitrogen fertilizer.

As a result, another problem appears - excess nitrogen. And this difficulty is much more terrible than the lack of this component.

The fact is that a lack of nitrogen can be compensated for with relative ease, but correcting the consequences of excessive levels of this microelement is much more difficult.

Due to the large amount of nitrogen, the absorption of other microelements is blocked. Despite abundant flowering, problems with the formation of ovaries and fruits arise.

As a result, the summer resident collects a meager harvest of low quality: the few fruits are tasteless.

How to avoid excess nitrogen

Firstly, you need to stop watering tomato seedlings with herbal mash without any control. Unfortunately, many gardeners have this habit.

Secondly, there is no need to add nitrogen fertilizer when planting seedlings. It is advisable to limit yourself to adding rotted manure to the holes.

Then you need to monitor the condition of the plant. If there are no signs of nitrogen deficiency, then you do not need to add it. If there are signs, then you should use urea.

If the gardener has allowed an excess of the nitrogen component, the problem can be solved by adding potassium monophosphate.

Earlier, summer residents were told how to get a record harvest of cucumbers .
